Possible topics include, but are not limited to: computer codes and simulation in accelerator physics; experimental methods, instrumentation, diagnostics and measurement; accelerator theory; particle sources; accelerator structures; advanced accelerator concepts; rf power sources; free electron lasers; announcements and news from accelerator laboratories. RATIONALE: Particle accelerators, beam transport systems and magnetic optics systems are designed, built and utilized at numerous institutions around the world. Researchers starting work on a problem that is new to them can poll the newsgroup for past efforts related to that problem. By fostering scientific interchange and discussion between accelerator scientists, the newsgroup would help researchers get their work done more quickly, it could prevent them from making common mistakes, and it could help them find the best solutions to problems. CHANGE OF MODERATION: If, in the future, there is a desire to change the status of the newsgroup from unmoderated to moderated, this can be accomplished by following the Usenet rules for creation of a new newsgroup (RFD, CFV, vote) Date: 26 Jul 1993 11:54:28 -0400 RESULT: sci.physics.accelerators passes 318:8
